Drug summary

PPI. Esomeprazole 20 mg, Esomeprazole 40 mg.
H.Caps. 28 X 20 mg/40 mg
Adlts.:Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- tmt. of erosive reflux esophagitis:
40 mg 1 X dly. for 4 weeks
-long-term manag. of ptts. with healed esophagitis to prev. relapse:20 mg 1X dly.
- symptom. tmt. of GERD:
20 mg 1X dly
Eradic. of H. pylori: 20 mg+ 1g amoxicillin+ 500 mg clarithromycin, all 2 Xdly for 7 days.
For ptt. under NSAID ther.: 20 mg X1 dly.
Prolonged tmt. after i.v. induced prevent. of rebleed. of peptic ulcers: 40 mg 1 X dly. for 4 weeks
Adolesc from the age of 12: dosage as for adlts. For comb. antibiot. as per ptt. weight.
Adlts. for:Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)- tmt. of erosive reflux esophagitis - long-term manag. of ptts. with healed esophagitis to prev. relapse – symptom. tmt. of GERD. In combin. with appropr. antibact. ther. regimens for the eradic. of Helicobacter pylori and- healing of H. pylori assoc. duodenal ulcer and prevent. of relapse of peptic ulcers in ptts. with H. pylori assoc. ulcers -Ptts. req. continued NSAID ther. Healing of gastric ulcers assoc. with NSAID ther.– Prevent. of gastric and duodenal ulcers assoc. with NSAID ther., in ptts at risk. - Prolonged tmt. after i.v. induced prevent. of rebleed. of peptic ulcers. Adolesc. from the age of 12 for: GERD – tmt. of erosive reflux esophagitis -long-term manag. of ptts. with healed esophagitis to prev. relapse-Symptom. tmt. of GERD. In combin. with antibiotics in tmt. of duodenal ulcer caused by H. pylori.
C/I: hypersens. incl. to substituted benzimidazoles.
Not to be admin. with nelfinavir.

Indications

* Heartburn with or without inflammation of the gullet caused by reflux of gastric acid
* Ulcers in the upper part of the gut or stomach caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria.
* Gastric ulcer caused by use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as arthritis (rheumatism) medicines.
* Prevention of the formation of gastric ulcers
* Prevent recurrent bleeding of a gastric or duodenal ulcer
Adolescents over the age of 12
* Heartburn (with or without inflammation of the gullet) caused by reflux of gastric acid
* Ulcers in the upper part of the gut or stomach caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria.

Contra-Indications

* Sensitivity to any of its ingredients
* Sensitive to another preparation of the proton pump inhibitors group (e.g., pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, omeprazole).
* Use with medical product contains nelfinavir (to treat HIV infection).
