C/I: Hypersens. to compon. Infects. due
to anerobes, T.B. of skin, herpes simplex,
vaccinia, varicella. Not for ophth. use.
Corticosteroid. Prednisolone 15 mg / 5 ml. SYR. (van. flav.): 60 ml. Initial: 5-60 ml
dly depend. on severity.
Conds. respond. to corticoster. ther.
C/I: As for all corticosteroids.
Corticosteroid. Prednisolone (acetate) 1%. STERILE OPHTH. SOLN: 5 ml, 10 ml. 1-2
drops into conjunct. sac 2-4 x dly
during initial 24-48 hrs. May incr.
frequency if necess. See lit.
Steroid-response inflamm. palpebral and
bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, ant. seg. of
globe.
Corticosteroid. Prednisolone 1 mg/ml. Oral sol. sgle dose 10 X 5 ml
Dosage: To red. the risk of dosing errors, should the prescr. dose. be more than 30 mg dly, a more appropr. presentat. (e.g. high dosage tablets) should be used.
Adults:
Short-term treatment: 20 to 30 mg dly for the first few days, subseq. reduc. dly dosage by 2.5 or 5 mg every two to five days, depend. upon respon.
Rheumatoid arthritis: 7.5 to 10 mg dly. For maint. ther. the lowest effect. dose is used.
Other indicated conditions: 10 to 30 mg dly for one to three weeks, then reduc. to the min. effect. dosage.
Children:
bronchial asthma:
Childr. under 2 years: up to 10 mg dly.
Childr. 2-5 years incl.: up to 20 mg dly.
Children older than 5 years: 30 mg up to 40 mg dly.

Corticosteroid. Chloramphenicol 3%, Prednisolone 0.5%. OINT: 10 g, 20 g. Apply 2-4 x dly.
