    Macrolide. Azithromycin (as dihydrate) 250 mg.
    CAPS: 6 x 250 mg. Adult.: tmt. of STD caused by Chlamydia trachomat., 1000 mg as a single oral dose. For all other indicat. in which the oral formul.  is admin., the total dosage of 1500 mg should be given as 500 mg dly. for 3 d. As an alternat., the same total dose can be given over 5 d. with 500 mg given on the 1ST day, then 250 mg dly. on 2nd – 5th day.
    Child.> 45kg  bdy. wt. and adult., includ. elderly pts.: The total dose of azithromycin is 1500mg which should be given over 3  d. (500mg×1/d).
    In uncomplic. genit. infect. due to Chlamydia trachomat., the dose is 1000mg as a sing. oral dose.
    Total dose in child. is 30 mg/kg. Tmt. for ped. streptococ. pharyngit. should be dosed at a different regimen.
    The total dose of 30 mg/kg should be given as a single dly. dose of 10 mg/kg dly. for 3 d., or given over 5 d. with a single dly. dose of 10 mg/kg on 1st , then 5 mg/kg on 2nd -5th d.
    As an alternat. to the above dosing, tmt. for child. with acute otitis m. can be given as a single dose of 30 mg/kg.
    For ped. streptococ.  pharyngit., given as a single dose of 10 mg/kg or 20 mg/kg for 3 days has been shown to be effective; however, a daily dose of 500 mg must not be exceed..
    For child. <15 kg, azithromycin susp.  should be measured as closely as possible. For child. ≥15 kg, azithromycin susp., should be admin. accord.to the guide provided below. There is no inform. on child. less than 6 mnths. of age.
    For the tmt. of sexual. transmit. dis.  caused by Chlamydia trachomat., the dose is 1000 mg as a single oral dose.
    Infect. caused by susceptib. organism. in lower respirat. tract includ. bronchit.  and pneumon., skin and soft tissue infect., otitis media, upper respirat. tract infect. includ. sinusitis and pharyngitis, tonsilitis, also in the tmt. of uncomplicat. genit. infect. due to chlamydia trachomatis.
    C/I: Hypersens.Pts. with a history of cholestat. jaundice/hep. dysfunct. assoc.  with prior use of azithromycin.

    Macrolide. Azithromycin 250 mg.
    TABS: 6. 2 tabs (500 mg) dly for 3 days.
    The same total dose may be given over
    5 days, with 2 tabs (500 mg) on day 1
    and 1 tab (250 mg) dly on days 2-5. All
    to be taken 1 hr. bef. or 2 hrs. aft. food.
    Infects. caused by suscept. organ in
    lower respir. tract, otit. med., upper
    respir. tract, skin and soft tissue,

    chlamydia trachomat. or due to nonmultiresist.
    neisseria gonorrh. Concur.
