    Macrolide. Azithromycin 250 mg.
    CAPS: 6 x 250mg.
    Adult.:
    Tmt. of STD caused by Chlamydia trachomatis: 1000 mg as a single oral dose. For all other indications in which the oral formul. is admin., the total dosage of 1500 mg should be given as 500 mg dly. for 3 d. As an alternative, the same total dose can be given over 5 d. with 500 mg given on 1st day, then 250 mg dly. on 2nd to 5th d.
    Child.:
    Child. ≥ 45kg , adult., includ. elderly pts.: The total dose of azithromycin is 1500mg which should be given over three days (500mg once daily).
    In uncomplic. genit. infec. due to Chlamydia trachomatis, the dose is 1000mg as a single oral dose.
    In general, the total dose in child. is 30 mg/kg. Tmt. for ped. streptococcal pharyngit. should be dosed at a different regim.
    The total dose of 30 mg/kg should be given as a single dly. dose of 10 mg/kg dly. for 3 d, or given over 5 d with a single dly. dose of 10 mg/kg on 1st d., then 5 mg/kg on 2nd -5th d.
    As an alternative to the above dosing, tmt. for child. with acute otit. med. can be given as a single dose of 30 mg/kg.
    For ped. streptococcal pharyngit., azithromycin given as a single dose of 10 mg/kg or 20 mg/kg for 3 d. has been shown to be effective; however, a daily dose of 500 mg must not be exceed.
    For child. weighing less than 15 kg, azithromycin susp. should be measured as closely as possib. For child. weighing 15 kg or more, azithromycin susp. See lit.
    Infec. caused by suscept. organis. in lower respire. tract include. bronchitis and pneum., skin&soft tissue infec., otitis med., upper respire. tract infec. includ. sinusitis & pharyngitis, tonsilitis, also in the tmt. of uncomplic. genit. infec. due to chlamydia trachomatis.
    C/I: Hypersens. to azithromycin, erythromycin, any macrolide or ketolide drug. Pts. with a history of cholestatic jaundice/hep. dysfunc. assoc. with prior use of azithromycin.

    Macrolide. Azithromycin 250 mg.
    TABS: 6. 2 tabs (500 mg) dly for 3 days.
    The same total dose may be given over
    5 days, with 2 tabs (500 mg) on day 1
    and 1 tab (250 mg) dly on days 2-5. All
    to be taken 1 hr. bef. or 2 hrs. aft. food.
    Infects. caused by suscept. organ in
    lower respir. tract, otit. med., upper
    respir. tract, skin and soft tissue,
    uncomplicat. genital infects. due to
    chlamydia trachomat. or due to nonmultiresist.
    neisseria gonorrh. Concur.
    infect. with triponema palidum should
    be excluded.

    VIAL (Pwdr. for sol. for infus.): 1. Adult pts. with CAP due to the indic. organis., 500 mg IV single dly. dose for at least 2 days. IV ther. should be follow.by oral azithromycin at a single dly. dose of 500 mg to complete a 7-10 day course of ther. The timing of the convers. to oral ther. should be done at the discretion of the physician and in accordance with clinic. response.
    For the tmt. of adult pts. with PID due to the indic. organis., the recomm. dose of IV azithromycin is 500 mg as a single dose by the IV route for one/two d. IV ther. should be follow. by azithromycin by the oral route at a single dly. dose of 250 mg to complete a 7-day course of ther. The timing of the convers. to oral ther.  should be done at the discretion of the physician and in accordance with clinic. response. If anaerobic microorgan. are suspect. of contributing to the infec., an antimicrob. anaerobic agent may be admin. in comb. with azithromycin.
    Tmt. of infec. caused by suscept. strains of the designated microorg, in the follow, conditions: commun. –acquir. pneumon (CAP). & PID.
    C/I: Hypersens. to azithromycin, erythromycin, any macrolide or ketolide drugs. Pts. with a history of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunct. assoc. with prior use of azithromycin.
