Dosage
Adults and adolescents (10 to 17 years of age): The dosage is one tablet (10mg), taken orally, once a day. Ezetimibe can be taken at any hour of the day with or without food with a small amount of water. The tablet can be crushed for immediate use. Cholesterol-lowering diet should be initiated before treatment initiation with this drug and continued during administration of this drug.
Indications
Primary hypercholesterolemia: Ezetimibe administered with an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) or alone are indicated as adjunctive therapy to diet for use in patients with primary (heterozygous familial and non-familial) hypercholesterolemia.
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH): Ezetimibe administered with a statin are indicated for use in patients with HoFH.
Patients may also receive adjunctive treatments (e.g. LDL apheresis).
Homozygous sitosterolemia (Phytosterolemia): Ezetimibe are indicated for use in patients with homozygous familial sitosterolemia.
Contra-Indications
Hypersensitivity to active substance or to its excipients.
Contomitant use with statin, in patients with hepatic impairment.
Contomitant use with statin, during pregnancy and lactation.
Important notes
Lactose: no content of lactose.
