    Anticonvulsant. Topiramate 25, 50, 100, 200 mg.
    FC Tabs 28 or 60 X 25/50/100/200 mg
    Adjunctive and monother. for epilepsy tmt. in adults:
    ther. should begin at 25 - 50 mg nightly for one week. Then at weekly or bi-weekly intervals, dose should be incr. by 25 - 50 to 100 mg/day and taken in two divided doses. Dose titrat. should be guided by clinical outcome. The usual daily dose is 200 - 400 mg in two divided doses. Max dose: 1600 mg/d for adj. ther and 1000 mg as monother.
    Adjunctive epilepsy ther. childr.:
    recomm. total daily dose as adjunctive ther. is 5 to 9 mg/kg/d in two divided doses.
    Monother. epilepsy chldr.: tmt. should begin at 0.5 to 1 mg/kg nightly for the first week. Dosage should then be incr. at 1 or 2 week intervals by increments of 0.5 to 1 mg/kg/d, admin. in two divided doses. If the child is unable to toler. the titrat. regimen, smaller increments or longer intervals can be used.
    The recommended initial target dose range for topiramate monotherapy in children 7 years and above is 100 to 400 mg/d.
    Migraine prophylaxis: recomm. total daily dose of topiramate for prophylaxis of migraine headache in adults is 100 mg/d admin. in two divided doses. Titrat. should begin at 25 mg nightly for 1 week. Dosage should then be incr. in increments of 25 mg/d at 1-week intervals. If the ptt. is unable to toler. the titrat. regimen, longer intervals between dose adjustments can be used. See full prescr. info.
    As adjunctive ther. for adults and childr  >2 years with partial onset seizures generalized tonicclonic seizures. Also in adults and childr. as adjunctive ther.for tmt. of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndr.
    This prod. can be prescribed as monother. in pts. with recently diagnosed epilepsy in adults and children aged >7 or for conversion to monother. in ptt. with epilepsy.
    Also in adults for the prevention of migraines. The use in the acute tmt. of migraine has not been studied

    C/I:
     Hypersens. For epilepsy: in pregn. unless there is no suitable alternative tmt. / in women of childbearing potent. not using highly effective contraception. Exception: a woman for whom there is no suitable alternative but who plans a pregn. and who is fully informed about the risks of taking topiramate during pregn. For migraine prophylaxis: in pregn./ in women of childbearing potent. not using highly effective contraception
