Dosage
TABLETS: The recommended dosage for adults and children weighing 40 kg or more is one tablet, three times a day. Take the tablets with food.
The recommended treatment for children either under 6 years or weighing less than 40 kg is Suspension.
POWDER FOR SUSPENSION: 250mg/5ml: Child: 3 months -6 years: 20 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours. Otitis media, sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI): 40mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours.
400mg/5ml: 25 mg/3.6 mg/kg body weight daily in 2 divided doses.
Serious infections: 45 mg/6.4 mg/kg body weight daily in 2 divided doses.
Take this medicine with food.

Indications
For the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media infections, sinusitis infections, acute pharyngitis, skin and soft tissues infection, and urinary tract infections, caused by beta-lactamase producing organisms which are susceptible to Amoxicillin and Potassium clavulanate and are resistant to other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Contra-Indications
A known sensitivity (allergy) to the active ingredients amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, to other medicines from the penicillins group, cephalosporins or to any of the other ingredients of the medicine. a severe allergic reaction (hypersensitivity) to any antibiotic has been observed. These symptoms include: skin rash or swelling of the face or neck. previously had impaired function of the liver or jaundice (yellowing of the skin) when taking an antibiotic.

Special Precautions
Before treatment with the medicine, inform the doctor if: The patient is sensitive to any food or medicine. The patient is suffering from impaired function of: the liver, the kidney/ urinary tract (problems passing urine), or the blood system (e.g., coagulation, etc). The patient is suffering from mononucleosis. The patient is suffering from phenylketonuria (the medicine contains aspartame). If you are not sure if these apply to the person for whom the medicine was prescribed, consult the doctor or pharmacist before the medicine is taken. In certain cases, your doctor will investigate which type of bacteria caused the inflammation. Different treatment may be given in accordance with the findings. If the patient is taking, or has recently taken, other medicines, including non-prescription medicines and nutritional supplements, inform the doctor or pharmacist. It is especially important to inform the doctor or pharmacist if he/she is taking: allopurinol (used for gout), the likelihood of an allergic skin reaction increases if allopurinol is taken in combination with the medicine. Probenecid (used for gout); there may be a need to adjust the dosage of the medicine. Blood thinner medicines such as Coumadin (warfarin) and Sintrom (acenocoumarol). There may be a need to adjust the dosage and more frequent monitoring may be required. Methotrexate (a medicine for the treatment of cancer or rheumatic diseases). The medicine may affect the activity of this drug. This medicine may lower the effectiveness of oral contraceptives (there may be a need for use of an additional contraceptive).
This medicine may worsen the state of existing diseases or cause severe side effects. These include: allergic reactions, convulsions, and colitis. To reduce the risk of potential problems, pay attention to certain symptoms when taking the medicine.
Treatment with amoxicillin and clavulanic acid in patients taking anticoagulants has been shown to affect coagulation times. Therefore, refer to the doctor for monitoring and adjustment of the dosage.
Blood and urine tests: Before taking blood (e.g., red blood cell count or liver function), and urine (glucose levels) tests, inform the doctor or the nurse that the patient is taking this medicine, since this drug may affect the test results.

Side Effects
Very common side effects that occur in more than 1 in 10 users: Diarrhea (in adults).
Common side effects that occur in up to 1 in 10 users: Thrush (candida – a yeast infection of the genitals, mouth or skin folds), Nausea – especially when taking high dosages, Vomiting, Diarrhea (in children).
