Asth., chron. bronchit., emphysema.
Contra-Indications
Hypersensitivity to theophylline or other xanthine derivatives.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy and lactation, severe cardiac disease, severe hypoxemia, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, acute myocardial injury, cor pulmonale, liver disease, the elderly, neonates, history of peptic ulcer, prostatic hypertrophy.
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and insomnia. At a level above 30 mcg/ml, adverse reactions represent symptoms of overdose. Reflex hyperexcitability, muscle twitching, clonic and tonic generalized convulsions, tachycardia, life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia, tachypnea and albuminuria.
