Dosage
Dosage is according to doctor’s instructions only. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
This medicine is to be taken at specific time intervals as determined by the attending doctor. If you forgot to take this medicine at the specified time, take the dose as soon as you remember, but never take two doses together.
Attention: Suspension – Take care to measure the dose using a measuring spoon or the enclosed measuring cup.
Indications
Infections due to amoxycillin susceptible organisms.
Contra-Indications
Known hypersensitivity to a penicillin-type drug. Babies born to mothers with a history of hypersensitivity to a penicillin-type drug.
Special Precautions
This drug should not be used in patients suffering from mononucleosis. Pregnancy and lactation, use in infants. Therapy should be continued for at least 10 days. Following completion of treatment, cultures should be taken to determine whether streptococci have been eradicated. Periodic assessment of renal, hepatic and hematopoietic functions should be made during prolonged therapy. The possibility of superinfection with mycotic or bacterial pathogens should be kept in mind.
Side Effects
Anaphylaxis, erythematous maculopapular rashes, urticaria, and occasional cases of exfoliative dermatitis, erythema multiforme and Stevens-Johnson syndrome, chills, fever, edema and arthralgia, glossitis, stomatitis, black “hairy” tongue, nausea, vomiting, enterocolitis, pseudomembranous colitis, diarrhea, rise in serum SGOT and SGPT, transient hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, hematological reactions, rare cases of reversible hyperactivity, agitation, anxiety, insomnia, confusion, behavioral changes, and/or dizziness.
Drug interactions
Chloramphenicol erythromycin tetracyclines, suphonamides, probenicid.
