C/I: Hypersens. incl. to other inject. iron preparations. Anemia not caused by iron defic. Iron excess or hereditary disorder in iron utilization.

Pts. with haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis.
Pts. with iron metabolism disord. (lead anaemia, sideroachrestic anaemia, thalassaemia).
Pts. with any anaemia not caused by iron defic. (e.g. haemolytic anaemia or megaloblast. anaemia caused by vitamin B12 defic.
Hematinic. Iron (as Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex) 50 mg. SYR: 110 ml. Anem: Adults and child
over 12 yrs old, and nursing mothers:
10-20 ml dly; Pregn. women: 20 ml dly;
Child 2-12 yrs: Up to 6 mg (0.6 ml)/kg
bdy wt. dly. Proph: Over 12 yrs and
pregn. women: 5-10 ml dly. Child 1-12
yrs: 1 mg (0.1 ml)/kg bdy wt. dly; Babies
under 2 yrs: Not more than 15 mg dly
for proph. ther.
Prevent. and tmt. anem. due to latent,
manifest iron defic.
C/I: Iron overload, anem. not due to iron
defic.
Hematinic. Iron (as sodium ferric gluconate complex) 62.5 mg / 5 ml. AMPS: 5 x 5 ml.
Single or dly doses by slow I.V. inject.
Dly dose for adults: 3.2 ml/5 ml
depend. on amt. iron defic. See lit.
Adult., child. 6 yrs. and above. Severe iron
defic. when oral admin. impossible,
gastrointest. malabsorpt., dialysis pts.
getting erythropoietin.
C/I: Hypersens. to the product; Known
serious hypersens. to other parenteral
iron product.; Iron overload
(haemochromatosis, chronic
haemolysis) or iron utilisation disorders
(sideroblastic anaemia, lead anaemia,
thalassaemia), Sev. inflamm. dis. of the
liver or kidneys; premature babies or
neonates, due to the content of benzyl
alcohol; hereditary fructose intolerance,
glucose-galactose malabsorption or
saccharaseisomaltase deficiency.
Hematinic. Ferrous Gluconate 130 mg / 5 ml. SYR: 120 ml. Initial 4-6 mths: 2.5 ml dly;
6-12 mths: 5 ml dly. Child over 1 yr: as
reqd.
Tmt. and prevent. iron defic. anem. in
