PPI. Omeprazole 20 mg. CAPS: 14, 30. Adults over 18 yrs: 1 cap 1 x
dly bef. meal, in morn. for 14 days. May
repeat 14 days course every 4 mths.
Not to exceed recommended dly dose.
Swallow. difficulties: Open capsule,
add to orange juice or yogurt within
30 mins. Capsule can also be sucked
and contents swallowed.
Acute duod. ulc., acute gastric ulc., H.
pylori-assoc. peptic ulc. dis. in combinat.
with antibiotics, tmt., long-term.
manage. reflux esophagit., maint. tmt.
for prevent. relapse severe reflux
esophagit., tmt. severe reflux esophagit.
in child > one year of age. Maint. tmt.
prevent. relapse in pts. with poorly

C/I: Known hypersens; child, adolesc.
under 18 yrs. Pts. suffer. pain while
swallow. food, vomit. with blood,
bloody/black stools, combinat. with
atazanavir.

days. May repeat tmt. in 4 mths.
Tmt. reflux-like sympts. (e.g heartburn), if
frequency > 2 x wk, in adult > 18 yrs.
C/I: Hypersens. to omeprazole, any
ingred./other PPI, nelfinavir, under 18
yrs. See lit.
PPI. Omeprazole 20 mg, 40 mg. CAPS: 14, 28 x 20 mg, 28 x 40 mg. Acute duod./gastric ulc: 20 mg 1 x
dly; in poor. respons. incr. to 40 mg 1 x
dly. Maint. prevent. relapse poor. resp.
pept. ulcer: 20 mg 1 x dly. If recur., incr.
to 40 mg 1 x dly. H. pylori-assoc. pept.
ulc: Triple ther. regimen: 3 alternatives: (i) Omepra 20 mg, amoxicillin 1 g,
clarithromycin 500 mg all 2 x dly for 1
wk; (ii) Omepra 20 mg, clarithromycin
250 mg, metronidazole 400 mg (or
tinidazole 500 mg) all 2 x dly for 1 wk;
(iii) Omepra 40 mg 1 x dly with
amoxicillin 500 mg, and metronidazole
400 mg, both 3 times dly for 1 wk. Dual
ther: Omepra 40-80 mg dly with
amoxicillin 2 g dly in div. doses for 2 wks.
If H pylori-positive persists aft. any of
above regimens, ther. may be repeated.
Acute GERD: 20 mg 1 x dly. GERD. refract.
to other ther: 40 mg 1 x dly may be used.
Long-term manage. GERD: 10 mg 1 x dly.
May incr. to 20-40 mg 1 x dly. Maint. for
prevent. of relapse in severe GERD: 20
mg 1 x dly. If recurr., incr. to 40 mg 1 x
dly. Severe GERD in child 1 yr. and older:
10-20 kg bdy wt: 10 mg dly or 20 mg if
reqd. Over 20 kg bdy wt: 20 mg dly or 40
mg if reqd. Zollinger-Ellison syndr: See
lit. Tmt. and prevent. NSAID-assoc.
duod., gastric ulc./erosions: 20 mg 1 x
dly.
C/I: Known hypersens, concomit.
