Anticonvulsant. Carbamazepine 200 mg, 400 mg, 2%. TABS.: 50 x 200 mg;
CR TABS.: 50 x 200 mg, 30 x 400 mg;
SYR.: 250 mL x 2%.
Adults: Epilepsy: Initial: 100 mg 1-2 x
dly. slowly incr. until best response
obtained. Acute mania/maint. tmt of
bipolar dis.: Dosa range: 400 to 1600
mg dly, div. 2-3. Trigem. neuralg.:
Initial: 200 - 400 mg, slowly incr. dly
until freedom from pain is achieved.
Max. recomm. dose is 1200 mg/d.
Diabetes insip.: Aver. dosage for adults:
200 mg x 2 - 3 dly.
Child. & adolesc.: Epilepsy: ≤ 4 yrs, a
starting dose of 20 to 60 mg/d, incr. by
20-60 mg every 2d day. For childr. > 4
yrs, initial 100 mg/d, incr. at wkly
interv. by 100 mg. Maint. dosage: 10-20
mg/kg bdy wt dly in div. doses. See lit.

C/I: Hypersens. to product or struct.
related drugs (e.g. TCA); Pts with AV
block; Pts with a hist. of bone-marrow
