Dosage
This medicine is not usually intended for administration to children and infants.
Directions for use: Do not chew! Swallow the medicine with a small amount of water. It is advisable to take the medicine with a meal and the last daily dose before bedtime.

Indications
H2 – receptor antagonist for reduction of gastric secretion and acid in duodenal ulcer, prevention of relapse of duodenal ulcer, benign gastric ulcer, Zolinger-Ellison syndrome.
Contra-Indications
Known hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Symptomatic response to famotidine does not preclude gastric malignancy. Pregnancy and lactation, pediatrics, severe renal impairment, cirrhosis or impaired hepatic function.
Side Effects
Headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea and/or vomiting, rash, abdominal discomfort or distension, anorexia, fatigue, loss of hair and ringing in ears.
Drug interactions
Coumarin anticoagulants, carbamazepine, diltiazem, propranolol, quinidine, quinine, labetalol, lignocaine, nifedipine, felodipine, pethidine, triamterene, amiodarone, procainamide, metformin, flecainide, tricyclic antidepressants, xanthines, phenytoin, chlormethiazole, metronidazole, alprazolam, chlordiazepoxide, diazepam, midazolan, nitrazepam, propafenone, piroxicam, terbinafine. Ketoconazole, rifampicin, sucralfate, octreotide.
