Indications
Functional symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Contra-Indications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the product, history of orthostatic hypotension, severe hepatic insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Reduction in blood pressure can occur in individual cases during treatment. Use in patients with micturition syncope is not advised. The patient should be examined in order to exclude the presence of other conditions which can cause the same symptoms as benign prostatic hyperplasia. Digital rectal examination, determination of PSA should be performed before treatment and at regular intervals afterwards. Use caution in severely renally impaired patients.
Side Effects
Dizziness, abnormal ejaculation, rash, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and, less frequently, headache, exhaustion,orthostatic hypotension, fast or irregular pulse, rhinitis, blurred vision, fainting, dry mouth, edema (rare).
Drug interactions
Diclofenac and warfarin may increase tamsulosin elimination rate. Co-administration with other alpha-1-adrenoreceptor antagonists could lead to hypotensive effects.
